Your Questions, Answered

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis?

No. You can contact us directly. You don't need a doctor's referral or a diagnosis to start therapy.

How do I choose a therapist?

You can browse our clinicians and book directly, or fill out our therapist-matching form and we'll help you find someone who fits your needs and preferences.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. You can book a free 20-minute consultation to meet a clinician, ask questions and see whether working together feels right.

Is therapy covered by my benefits?

Our services are covered by most extended health benefit plans. Coverage depends on your plan and your clinician's designation, so check with your provider. We can direct bill many insurers through TELUS eClaims. We are also a registered provider for WSIB, Telus Health and Veterans Affairs Canada, and sliding-scale options are available.

How much does a session cost?

Individual sessions are $120 to $160, depending on the clinician, and sessions at our Community Therapy Clinic are $100 or less. You'll find each clinician's fee on our Fees and Insurance page.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes. Sessions are available in person in St. Catharines and in your home in Niagara, subject to clinician availability. We also see clients by video or telephone anywhere in Ontario.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Our clinicians are regulated health professionals and follow their colleges' privacy and confidentiality standards. There are a few legal limits to confidentiality, such as a risk of serious harm, and your clinician will explain these at your first session.

Do you offer free or reduced-cost therapy?

Yes. In our Community Therapy Clinic, supervised students offer free and reduced-fee psychotherapy to people in our community.

What if I'm in crisis?

We are not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, call or text 9-8-8, or go to your nearest emergency department.
